A Teacher Resource for Global Literacy
This website's objective is to serve as a useful resource for educators to globalize and transform their lesson plans. A primary goal of a globalized classroom is to prepare students for a 21st century work force and the new career and communication demands of their generation. Students need authentic learning opportunities to become globally competent individuals, and chances to use and evaluate the digital and print resources available to them. A globally competent student investigates their world, recognizes multiple perspectives, communicates their views effectively, and takes action to make significant changes in response to the world's problems. This website is intended to provide you as an educator with the understanding, materials, and resources needed to present these opportunities to your students! |
About the AuthorI currently teach 8th grade Language Arts at Aki Kurose Middle School in Seattle, WA. Originally from Ohio, I have taught in North Carolina and Massachusetts, and have presented graduate-level research in Australia and Ireland. I applied to the Teachers for Global Classrooms Program to learn more about enhancing the education of my students to better prepare them for the future. The TGC program, sponsored by the US State Department, is my first international study experience as an educator!
